
Krešimir Matanović
Assistant Professor
Krešimir Matanović was born in 1977 in Zagreb. He graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb in 2002. He worked at the Veterinary Station Jastrebarsko, at the Department of Physiology and Radiobiology and at the Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases with the Clinic of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Since November 2015, he has been employed at the Department of Biology and Pathology of Fish and Bees at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb. He obtained the academic degree of Doctor of Science in Biomedicine and Health, Veterinary Medicine, in 2011 by defending his dissertation entitled Genotyping and Demonstration of Genes for Resistance of Methicillin-Resistant Strains of Staphylococcus pseudintermedius.
In collaboration with other authors, he has published more than 50 scientific and professional papers and abstracts in proceedings of international and domestic scientific conferences, one university textbook and one translation of an English university textbook. He has reviewed more than 50 papers in scientific and professional journals. He participated in the implementation of several scientific and technological projects of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia, one project of the Croatian Science Foundation, one structural project funded by EU funds and several short-term research grants from the University of Zagreb.
During his work at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Zagreb, he participated in several compulsory and elective courses of integrated undergraduate and graduate study of veterinary medicine in domestic physiology, veterinary immunology, veterinary microbiology, biology and pathology of aquatic organisms and biology and pathology of beneficial insects. He is an associate in the teaching of branch-oriented subjects of the Doctoral Study in Veterinary Sciences. Performs the function of quality manager of the Department of Biology and Pathology of Fish and Bees according to the standard HR EN ISO / IEC 17025 and coordinator for quality according to the standard ISO 9001. Participates in the implementation of contractual cooperation with fish farms and revision of management plans in freshwater fisheries. He studied at the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute, Veterinary Sciences Division, Belfast, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and in the Republic of Slovenia. He is the winner of three FEMS scholarships Meeting Attendance Grant, scholarships from the University of Zagreb and several awards from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. He is a member of the Croatian Veterinary Chamber and the International Society of Education in Animal Sciences.
Project function:
As part of the project “Improving cooperation between fishermen and scientists in order to introduce advanced technologies for marking fishing gear, fish health and environmental protection” participates in the analysis of growth and development disorders and monitoring the occurrence of tumors on collected fish specimens. He will also participate in the dissemination of knowledge and research results through the preparation of an expert study on identified health disorders.
